Friend Description

Melvin is very brown, black hair, his very big and very funny.
I like to mock him but he knows I’m joking. He always gets angry when I always tell to do stuff he takes stuff really seriously. I can get really angry at Melvin he looks like that he is going to hit me.  

Melvin likes to play held, touch, and rugby he is good at all of those sports but the things that he is scared of is to not to get tackled. Because if he gets tackled he would get in trouble from his dad because he not allowed to get dirty.

Melvin is my best friend I ever had. I would like to take him to the movies! to spend heaps of time with him. Melvin would be very excited if I took him. When it’s the holiday I would like to take Melvin to Sylvia Park to have some fun.   

REFLECTION FOR 2012!!

In 2012 I was glad to be a year 7 because it feels like I am a much older kid. This year is better than last year because the classroom last year was smaller but then this year is a much bigger class.  When I first came into the senior school the street was amazing. It was big it had heaps of room.

My subjects is reading because I've done better than last year cause in my reading it was low as but now this year it's gone higher. My second best is writing because I am not that kind of writing person. I don't make sense when I write about. My third best is Maths because I am not that good in maths. I have to learn my minus, division, and multiplication.

 

Free Narrative writing

Suddenly night fell and the owls were hooting. The night light was shimmering over the water as a sea monster was slithering through the river as sneaky as he could. As sam was sitting next to the campfire toasting a marshmallow. The sea monster sneaked up with a hungry grin. Sam had a suspicious feeling that a set of eyes were on him then all of a suddenly he heard footsteps right behind him he gasped quickly.

He got up and tried to defend himself with his marshmallow but when the monsters eye caught the marshmallow he acted all cute so Sam could give him some. When Sam got out the last marshmallow the monster just chomped from his hand straight away. When the monster was waiting for the next marshmallow Sam didn’t have anymore that’s when the anger came back.

The monster went back to monster mode and Sam was terrified he ran for his life but he tripped up and the monster was running up to him as if Sam was his dinner. Sam quickly picked up a pillow to defend him then the monster looked at the pillow happy again and Sam threw away pillow and ran off screaming like a girl.

When the monster took the pillow to the fire it burnt and he looked up to the stars and wished he had a marshmallow.



 

Net book Reflection

The netbooks can really come in handy because if you want to go on your docs or your emails just type it down and it will be right there in front of you. Netbooks can really sometimes get annoying because the internet can sometimes go slow compared to last year the internet was faster than this year. I like the netbooks because you can go on games, math whizz, xtra math.

The sun-set just ended and Kylie was power walking to the shop before it was too dark. When she got to the shop she saw a poor looking man stealing a fizzy. She called out to the counter and said that man is stealing but he was already gone. As soon as Kylie got what she needed from the shop she was jogging and had the butterflies. Then all of a sudden she heard the bush rattle. She started running and felt very weird.

She got to her road and heard footsteps running behind her and was panting with tiredness. When she got home she slammed the door with shaking hand then ran to the lounge and saw that her dad was snoring on the couch. Then she rang 111 while trying to wake up her dad. His dad was mumbling why and when the cops got there. They checked the neighbourhood and said it is clear she was happy.

Year 7 - team buliding

At 10 0’clock it was a competition that who can make the best christmas tree. building a christmas tree made out of newspaper, tin foil, brown and yellow paper. My group was Raenan, Crusader, Tau, Britney, Roezel, Hosannah, and James.  


First we had to make the stand for the christmas tree. Then after we finish making the stand we make the decorations made out of tin foil, after that Britney fold the paper into a Ice cream cone. We tape it onto the stand to make it move to another place. Then we put on the decorations on the christmas tree and then we make 4 little branches.


The whole group was finish and when they were finish we had to sing a christmas song and our one was silent night we sang quite because we were shy and scared. Our next competition was to shoot a slingshot all the way from the other side.


We had to hold each other’s hand and then we run to the hula hoop we have to go through it. Then you run to Miss Nua and get the tape and slingshot, paper. First we had to make a ball out of paper the we tape it. Then 1 person has to go were the hula hoop is and tried to catch it. Crusader caught the ball and we got a point. The next person which was Raenan he caught the last ball and we were the second to last one to win. That was the best time of my life.

Tevita - Toy story

Zombies vs Boys Tevita, Melvin, and Mateo

The sky was tinged with yellowish sky as the sun began to set behind the hills. The moon was full. The stars weren’t shining because the grey clouds were blocking it. The whispering of the wind gave us the goosebumps. We were waiting on the bus at school. Then all of a sudden we heard a horrified scream nearby but none of us cared.

I was bored and there was only six of us left in the bus. Tevita was making jokes, Mateo was talking about his winning game, Lave was  too busy doing origami, Heremaia was annoying the bus driver and Tana was leaning his face on the window. If you want to know about me well I’m just relaxing and kicking back.

When all of a sudden the wheels popped and I was a little worried it was better than waiting for two hours. We all went out to see how it happened and it looked like a blade shot it. Then Tevita said “Yay we can camp in the bus tonight” everyone looked at him and said are you nuts! Mateo says “Look there’s a farm should we go inside and check it out”. Bus driver John said “I’ll check it out you kids stay here. He went to go look and Mateo said “who is he calling kids’.

There was a cornfield on the other side of the narrow road and Heremaia had an idea. He said with a cheeky voice why not look for some corn to eat but I said “No way we have to listen to what bus driver John said” and Heremaia said “Your such a wuss” to me and I said “Shut up” and then we waited and waited but bus driver John never came back from the barn.

Heremaia, Lave and Tana went to go check on him while me Mateo and Tevita waited. After a few minutes we heard Heremaia shout out “Run” in a horrified voice. So we all ran with fear. Heremaia was trying to save us so he stayed back and fight but then he didn’t make he got from the zombies Melvin was shouting NO HERMAIA IS A ZOMBIE!!.

Melvin,Tevita and Mateo were still running with fear. Tevita said to Melvin “I’m too young to die”.  Mateo ran past us and the zombies were right behind him so we sprinted to Mateo as fast as we can. Melvin said to Mateo “What happened”. “I was lost then these zombies came out nowhere and started chasing me” “What happened to your face” said Tevita “A zombie scratched me” replied Mateo “But it was epic how I clotheslined one of them” and they laughed. The only one that survived was Melvin, Mateo and I. The end.

Tevita - Bush writing

One day Melvin and I was planning a trip to the bush to go and explore the nature. Lately afternoon we were thinking about it Melvin said "that we should go"
but I said "nah it’s too dangerous". So we kept thinking and thinking Melvin and I said we should go to our grandpa's house in the bush. We started hiking up the hills going up and down through the creek and these little insects crawling up our sleeves and pants it was disgusting.


It was going to be noon so we started to sprint down to the trees and grass but it was too muddy and sticky Melvin fell down I tried to pick him but I fell with him we screamed for help but no one couldn’t hear us. We tried our plan I said to Melvin pick up the vine and swing it to I will throw it to the top of the tree and it will come to your side ready Melvin I pulled him up as hard as I can got out of the sticky and muddy creek and it was only me left. I told melvin to the same thing but you have to your hardest he did his best and it worked.


We saw a big waterfall just up ahead we ran we jumped in the water cleaning ourselves to look clean and smell good. We dried ourselves and I said to Melvin we should get some sleep It’s getting late we pitch our tent and slept. The next morning we started to hike we saw our grandpa’s house we sprinted and see who be first to see grandpa. We knocked on the door and It’s Me and Melvin we hugged him and said we haven’t seen you for ages. Melvin and I stayed there for 7 weeks it was fun and enjoyable the end.     

Tevita Writing Sample

It was a hot  and sunny day kids playing around Ice cream melting burning feet and lots of people going for a swim. They were jumping of the rocks doing bombs splashing in the water playing volleyball in the water. Blaze was going to do a bomb but then he slipped into water and cracked his head. His mother called the ambulance to take him to the hospital.

His parents came to check on him. Blaze had heaps of bruises on his arms his legs and especially on his head because it was cracked. The Mum was screaming IS HE GOING TO BE ALRIGHT!! she shouted to the doctor.  

“lately afternoon” they came again to check on Blaze. He didn’t feel that good he felt like he was going to die. MY SON IS GOING TO DIE! she was panicking the mum was running around acting stupid she fainted. The computer went BEEEEP and he past away.

Tevita - Joshua Iosefo

YES! I said to myself as Joshua and his family walked into the hall. I was excited to hear his   special speech again. His uniform looked so neat and shiny. Joshua looks like a very smart and nice guy. He goes to a school name Mt Roskill. Joshua is a Prefect in his school.

Joshua Iosefo started saying his speech Brown Brother. It was exciting because he was saying his speech in our school hall. He sounded very confident and loud. Joshua is a half Samoan and half Niue,but he can only say a mihi in chinese. Thank you Joshua Iosefo for coming to our school to say your Brown brother speech.

Olympic Rotation - Tevita

As I was making my way to the hall I said “quietly to myself it had to rain” on a special day. The first rotation was the obstacle course. The small and skinny table was hard to balance on as it wasn’t stable enough it was not strong to hold me. Teams were Matatua vs Te Arawa, Matatua team was coming first, and then the Te Arawa team was catching up. Round 2 shouted Miss Va'afusuaga, as I was versing Mateo I kept losing the ball every time I jumped on to the big black table. I try to sprinted back but mateo was too fast for me and I was too slow.

The  next rotation was singing stars. I was really scared because I didn’t want to sing in front of my team it will be so embarrassing. Kevin got chosen to chose the song on a Playstation, and we had 50 points. Mr garth jacobsen said who want’s to stand up for themselves and sing Kevin got up and sang we got another 50 points.  

Tevita - Neil Armstrong

The death of Neil Armstrong has sadly passed away because of complications from heart surgery. He was born on August 5 in the 1930. He died of the age of 82 and they also will forget that no one has been on the moon since 1972, and he was also an engineer and a professor.  


Neil Armstrong who was an American Astronaut who made the giant leap for mankind as the first human to stand on the moon. He was the commander for Apollo 11 and landing on the moon was apart of the Lunar space mission. He had two siblings and their name is June and Dean.

Cross Country - Tevita

Mr Burt banged the clappers and we all sprinted off I was coming first. As I came around the corner the mud splattered on my pants. Suddenly we came to the reserve I was  gasping for breath. Afterwards I was coming 11th I was saying in my mind I wish I was coming 1st. I came past heaps of people in the Cross Country I was saying to myself I hope I’m coming 4th or 3rd.


As we came to the Creek it was slippery, wet, and muddy. I came running down the hill bursting out speed. I was nearly coming first but I started to slow down because I was dehydrated. Then I sprinted all the way until I saw Tamaki College. Then I jogged for minute and I caught up to my friend Melvin.


Melvin and I were coming through the bridge we saw Mr J. Melvin and I were happy because we were back at the school. But the teachers said to run around the reserve and I was like tired as. As we ran to the reserve I was huffing and puffing. It was slippery, muddy, and wet. That was the worst run I ever had in my life.

Tevita and Tana - Smoking is bad

Smoking is really disgusting and dangerous because it can cause many health problems. There are over 4000 harmful chemical in cigarettes. Three are nicotine, tar and carbon monoxide. Tar is a disgusting brown sticky substance that causes nasty diseases. It can  damage your lungs, brain, and heart. It can cause you to have a heart attack.  The main thing I don’t like about smoking is that people can die and suffer. More than 4500 people in N,Z every year.

Smoking is also hard to quit because it is so addictive. But if you stop smoking you will stress a lot. When people first start smoking you get a sense pleasure but if you're trying to quit it will be very hard.  

Teenagers start because they want to be cool like their friends. But if they keep smoking they will be addicted to the smokes.  If teenagers smoke their mind says to smoke again.

Basketball

On Thursday afternoon Room 20 and Room 22 were going out to the courts and play some Basketball.    We were learning some lessons about basketball like dribbling shooting and more. The lesson techniques is to make sure you keep your eye on the ball and listen. We also learned how to dribble and shoot.


 First we did dribbling, dribbling was pretty hard because I kept messing up I was really angry cause I didn't know how to do it. So I kept on Practising and I got the hand of it I was really happy. Then it came on too shooting, shooting was hard because I was doing the hand techniques wrong. Then I kept getting into trouble. So he kept training how to shoot and the proper position.


 The instruction was who ever get's up to fifth teen they win. Then we had to get into teams of 6 or 7 my team was the red team we had a won against the Blue but had a tie with the yellow team.  Then it came to the green team it was pretty hard because they got really tall people. It was the green ball they passed it and passed it they were up to fourteen then Joe passed it to kitiona and then Heremaia intercepted. And it was a tie. 

Melvin and Tevita - Weightlifter

As the crowd was going wild Mckenzie had a smile of joy and muscles of confident.
The Weightlifter Precious Mckenzie was a athletic ability that was  first recognised at the age of 11. 




He had a Catholic mission with father Franklin and coached and trained him in gymnastics.
Mckenzie went back to his mother in Pietermaritzburg at the age 17. Precious also worked at a nearby shoe factory.







In 1958 he won the national Bantamweight weightlifting title. But for some reason he wasn’t chosen for the olympic games because his skin colour. Precious started training  and competing other countries.

Brown Brother

Joshua Iosefo, a perfect at Mt Roskill Grammar, had to deliver a speech to the school. Instead of a speech he wrote a poem titled “Brown Brother” Rashad post in an youtube where it care to the attention to campbell live, who presented on national television.

This poem was about people that believe in stereotypes. Joshua tells the school to don’t be afraid to change or don’t listen to stereotypes like limiting yourself. Joshua said  not a change in skin tone or colour, but a change for one brown brother to another.

I felt really surprised because his poem is really good and nice. He talks about interesting stuff like skin tone stereotypes and more. We really appreciate his poem because it’s cool and fantastic.

Vincent Van Gough cut off his left earlobe on the 24th of December in 1888 because he had a argument with one of his friends.  Vincent Van Gough used a razor a (very sharp knife) to cut off his ear. 

All blacks vs Ireland

On Saturday night it was All Blacks Vs Ireland in the Waikato stadium.  The All Blacks had got the first try and his name was Kane. The All Blacks won 60 nil.

Tevita - old lady smoking

The hot swealtering Nigerian sun was shining down on Tevita and I as we were going to get some water for the kids. We were on the side of the dusty street  there was a old lady who looked despaired. She was smoking Melvin looked at her and she already had piercing eyes on us. She looked weird and Tevita felt sorry for her.

We went up to her and said are you alright then she begged for moneny. She looked really worried about her kids we said if you want help and she said I want money.She was quite wrinkly and she looked kinda drastic. The clothes she was wearing was half way ripping and her shoes was really ugly. 

  

Tevita Kiwi kick

As we walked over to the courts I could see the "flags flapping heavily and the leaves falling off the trees". My body was shivering and my teeth were chattering my hands were numb so I rubbed them fast so they could be warm!. We met Sam and Anita which were the coaches they were teaching us how to play Kiwi Kick? We were at the courts they teach us some skills of Kiwi kick like drop punt high pass and chest pass that was some of the skills that they taught us. It was cool that we were going to Kiwi kick for another year. My favorite skill in Kiwi kick is the high pass because you get to jump and catch the ball.

(The 2nd day) we were learning how to do the drop punt and the hand pass. We had to get in groups of 2 to try out our skills. The first skill was the hand pass it was pretty easy but I kept on hitting the ball at the wrong way! We played this other game that we have to roll the ball under our legs and if you get through you will get a point and I always get it through my partner’s leg.



(The 3rd day) we were playing games for the whole time. The first game we were playing was over the bridge we were only allowed to use drop punt and hand pass? The game was about the first one to get the ball on the ground gets a point.  And if do a little kick you do not get a point. That was the best time at Kiwi Kick the end

Tevita Picasso/Matisse

Picasso and Matisse were two painters that drew two Women with a hat. They were born in the same era. Picasso was born in October the 25 1881 in spain. Matisse was born in December 31 1869 in france. Picasso and Matisse met in france and became life long mates.
  

Although both Picasso’s ‘Weeping Woman’ and Matisse's Woman with a hat are portraits of women, they have different theme. The  Picasso’s painting ‘Weeping Woman’ means war like sad, anguish, and suffering. Matisse' s theme was experimenting what was fauvism.

Matisse and Picasso use vibrant colors for his paintings they incorporate the same colors like light and dark.  Matisse and Picasso and  their cubism  works are the best. They are known once again the best new vibrant colors by Pablo Picasso.

I really like Matisse because he has great styles. The reason why I like Matisse better is because Picasso's art is just weird and strange and also has too much detail. I just don’t like cubism.

The Starry Night

Vincent Van Gogh Is famous because he painted over 900 painting. In his painting called Starry night it shows village beside some hills. It is one of his most famous paintings. The sky also look likes an ocean because his technique was to use bold and thick dark outlines and swirls. He has rough brushstrokes to show shimmering stars.

Daniella Hulme

Daniella Hulme ia New Zealand artist whose artwork ‘Abundance’ is inspired by the Pacific Islands. She incorporates flowers, fruit, the sea and islands in this painting. Her style is smooth and simplistic. The use of vibrant colours conveys a mood of happiness.  

The Amazing Race

Sitting in the marquee with my group,

I was eagerly waiting for Mr Barks to tell us what the Amazing Race was all about. The Amazing Race was one of our activities Mr Barks explained, There" are 3 tasks to complete. you will have to work hard as a team to earn points along the way." When the game started me and Melvin were looking around the shops to find the first clue.  Then we came to this Bakery and we ask the man politely if he has the clue for Amazing Race and he said Yes. So then we sprinted back to the School and then Melvin had passed it to me and It dropped. And then Melvin went to go and get another one but then joseph went and told Mr Barks that we dropped it and we got disqualified.”


The next challenge was we had to you’s our body by spelling Respect while the others take photos. When we were finished Mrs Langitupu had told us to go to her classroom and download the photo to her computer and wait. When it was finished we saw all of our photos on student room.

Show not tell-Tevita

On the last day of camp we went to the pools in Panmure. We were taking turns on the hydro-slides when it was my turn I was zooming rapidly through the hydro-slide. I was spinning around the hydro-slide heaps of time. And then first time finished. Back up on the stairs I was waiting for my turn to go on the hydro-slide

School Camp

My highlight at camp was the Amazing race because we get to find clues everywhere in the shops and at school. When Mr. Barks said go me and Melvin sprinted to the shop so we can get the egg then me and Melvin were the first one to get the egg but then Melvin had passed the egg to me and then it dropped. When we came to the field Joe had told that we dropped the egg and we got disqualified. But then Mr. Barks told us to take the egg back and to pick up the scales were you guys had dropped it.  

When all of the yr7and 8 students were bombing off the pools we had saw everyone all gathered at the far pool next to the changing room and we heard people saying Go The Warriors!!!!!!!!!! Out loud.  Then me and my friend Melvin sprinted to the pool so we can see the Warriors.  Melvin was getting excited because he had saw his best player Kevin Lock he was screaming over and over and it was annoying.  Then Manu took of his T- shirt and did a big bomb everybody was saying Go Manu!!!!!. When they left Manu and James were doing training in the pools for exercise.

Dr. Ben Carson

Ben was born in Detroit, Michigan.
Sonya, His mother, Dropped out of school in third grade and was married when she was only Thirteen. Unfortunately when Ben was only 8, His parent got Divorced. This made life very difficult because Sonya was left to raise the boys by herself. She worked 2-3 jobs at a time to provide for them.

Benjamin and his brother fell farther and farther behind School. In fifth grade, Carson was in the bottom of his class his classmates called him a dummy and then he had a developed a Violet temper.When Mrs Carson saw Benjamin's failing grades She was determined to her sons lives around. She limited the boys to watch television and to refused the boys to go play outside until they finish there homework. Her Mother Had said made them to read two library books a week.



One day Carson had  ASTONISHED a rock sample from the teacher he had recognized the rock from the book he read in the library. Then all of a sudden The teacher told Benjamin What kind of rock this is and he said obsidian. Carson continued to amaze his classmates with his New found knowledge and within a year he was at the top of his
class.  Carson made a medical history with a operation to separate a Siamese twins. The Binder twins were born joined at the back of the head.

Tevita's Picnic

On Friday Morning The School went to our beautiful Pt. England beach to have fun and spend time with our family . When it came to swimming I was bombing of Melvin shoulders. When it was Morning tea I had forgot that I had lunch in my school bag I was so hungry then I saw My friend Melvin and he had took out my lunch box and said here’s your lunch box and then I sprinted to Melvin to get my lunch box. When The songs came on me And Heremaia ere dancing to Michael Jackson hard out. When the teacher saw me and Heremaia dancing the teachers laughed. Then Me and Heremaia were digging a deep as hole for our feet to fit in But then Lorenzo came and sat on it and then me and Heremaia had to start all over again and when I went to the beach to get some water this boy just came out of no where and start wetting Then I was so I wet ted him and then I ran. A big welcome for the parents coming to our School Picnic to help the kids and for the to be safe and happy.

The Beach

Mike and his Friend were going to the Beach on a cold and windy day.  The sky started to turn black and grey it rain and rain it was like a hurricane! people were shivering and they had Goosebumps.  The water were making big waves! Mike kept on thinking that it was gonna be a  tsunami.
